Hi!

I’m Josue, an industrial designer based in Orange County, California, where I live with my wife and our two energetic kids.

Over the past 13 years, I’ve had the opportunity to design a diverse range of products that have successfully made it to market. My experience includes consumer electronics, medical devices, tactical soft goods, phone cases, e-bikes, and now hand tools. This breadth has allowed me to contribute across the full design process—from user research and defining briefs to building timelines and annual roadmaps, advancing concepts through development, and supporting DFM and mass production.

I’m currently at ToughBuilt, where I design hand tools and continue to refine my craft while collaborating with cross-functional teams to move products forward. Recently, I spent a month in Vietnam working closely with factory partners to troubleshoot and fine-tune a product I led. That experience gave me a deeper understanding of the complexities of design, engineering, and manufacturing, while also strengthening my ability to collaborate across cultures and clearly communicate ideas to both internal and external stakeholders.

Throughout my career, I’ve learned that empathy is essential to creating meaningful, innovative solutions. A user-centered approach—grounded in understanding people, contexts, and real-world interactions—helps uncover what truly matters. This perspective enables me to design products that deliver better experiences and stand apart from a crowded field of “me-too” solutions.

Family is a central part of my life. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time at parks, riding bikes, and exploring trails with my kids. I’m also into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, vintage Japanese cars from the 1960s–80s, and making pancakes on Sundays.
